It’s easy to overlook some of the basics when putting your property up for sale. One of the most common details that gets missed is curb appeal. This is especially true with owners of Detroit rental properties when it’s time to sell. The way a property first appears when you pull up in the driveway can either make or break a buyer’s interest in seconds. So how can you give your property that extra “wow-factor”? Well, let’s get right into it and explain.
Great Lawn Maintenance
Even if you might slack-off on mowing the lawn once in awhile, the time to stay on top of it is when selling your house. While your house is for sale you must keep that yard looking really good! Pull up the weeds, trim the hedges, get rid of debris. Edge along the driveway, walk-ways and curb after mowing the lawn. If you have any bare-spots in the lawn, plant some grass-seed. All of these very simple touch-ups can add great curb appeal, especially during the spring, summer and early fall seasons.
Sweep And Pressure-Wash
Something as easy as picking up a broom and sweeping dust, dirt and debris away from the porch, walk-ways and driveway can also make a great visual difference. It sends a message to someone viewing the property that it has been cared for to a certain degree. You can also take it to the next level by pressure-washing all of those same surfaces. Pressure washers are very easy to use and you can rent one from Lowe’s or Home Depot or you could hire someone to do it for you. Either way, it’s a relatively inexpensive way to improve the curb appeal of your property when looking to sell.
Wash Windows And Paint Trim
Taking the time out to wash the windows is totally worth it! It’s a simple detail and won’t cost you much to get it done. So get those windows washed right before you put your house on the market. Painting the trim and window-shutters can really make the house stand-out from the others on the block as well.
Optional: Do Some Light Landscaping
This is totally optional but it might be worth it. A few simple and cheap landscaping items can really spruce-up your lawn tremendously. You could plant some colorful flowers or put a few nice looking plants on the front porch. Adding some fresh mulch along the edges of the front porch or other surfaces can really make the property look welcoming.
